The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders is dedicated to excellence in teaching, research, and clinical practice in speech-language pathology and habilitation/ rehabilitation of the deaf and hard of hearing. For over 40 years, the faculty, staff, and students in COSD have joined with the community to make innovative clinical and education services accessible to children and adults with communication difficulties. COSD, with one of the first Bilingual Speech Language Pathology training programs in the nation, is also committed to multicultural and cross cultural instruction and research.

 

The mission of the Department is to advance the understanding and practice of COSD through the preparation of graduates who think and practice as ethical leaders by promoting scholarship, community clinical service, and cross cultural education.

 

The Department Communication Sciences and Disorders offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology and Habilitation of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (deaf education).  A minor in communication sciences and disorders is also offered. The graduate program offers a Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology, with an optional sequence in Bilingual Speech-Language Pathology.
